Gratitude is an amazing thing. Practicing gratitude regularly is a fantastic way to maintain happiness and allow for inner peace.
If we cannot appreciate the little things in life, we will likely be ungrateful for our successes. Focusing on the small joys makes it easier to savor the positive emotions that lead to greater happiness.
How many of you have been writing in your gratitude diary on a daily basis? If you don’t have one yet, I encourage you to start!
Research from Southern Methodist University and the University of California at Davis has shown that keeping a gratitude journal can significantly elevate your happiness levels.
Dr. Robert Emmons, a leading researcher in the field of gratitude, found that individuals who maintained a gratitude diary for just 10 weeks reported an average increase in happiness of about 25%.
Participants self-reported their happiness levels on a scale from 1 to 100 at the beginning and end of the study. Those who diligently wrote in their journals saw their happiness scores rise dramatically.
Just imagine if a stock or bond could offer that kind of return! Imagine investing just two minutes a day for such a remarkable return – it’s like finding a golden investment opportunity!
What’s even more fascinating is how gratitude changes your brain. When you focus on thankfulness, your brain releases serotonin—a neurotransmitter linked to feelings of happiness and calm.
This not only elevates your mood but also helps combat feelings of stress or depression.
But the benefits of gratitude extend beyond just feeling good. Beyond cultivating a positive mindset, gratitude journaling benefits include physical and emotional advantages:
Starting a gratitude practice doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple daily gratitude rituals, like writing in a journal or reflecting on the positive aspects of your day, can set the tone for a more peaceful and joyful life.
I always encourage my clients to write down at least 5 to 10 things they are grateful for daily.
You can start your morning or end your day with simple statements like:
“I’m grateful for the sunlight streaming through my window, the laughter I shared with a friend today, and the way my favorite sweater keeps me cozy on chilly evenings.”
“I am grateful for waking up this morning.”
“I appreciate my comfortable bed that provided restful sleep.”
“I cherish the family and friends present in my life.”
As you write, take your time to savor each memory. Allow yourself to experience the sensations of being thankful moment by moment throughout this exercise.
Writing these thoughts down creates a tangible reminder of all the good in your life and a shift in perspective, allowing you to focus on abundance rather than lack.
Here’s a fun idea to supercharge your gratitude practice:
It’s like creating your own happiness time capsule. How cool is that?
This practice not only boosts your mood but also provides visual proof of how many amazing moments you can find to celebrate.
Embracing an attitude of gratitude raises your vibrations and keeps your heart open.
Simply thinking or writing down what you’re grateful for first thing in the morning or last thing at night can change your perception of life, creating those feel-good hormones in your body.
When you cultivate this state of being, negativity from others or external circumstances flows around you without affecting your inner peace. Start small and make it a habit to appreciate the good things happening in your life.
In addition, this practice will create a sense of peace and detachment from negativity, allowing you to shift from fear into love. So, incorporating it into your daily routine can transform not just how you feel but also how you experience life itself.
Gratitude isn’t just about appreciating the good; it’s about creating a foundation of resilience, joy, and connection.
So, why not start TODAY? Grab a notebook, commit to 2 minutes every day for the next 30 days to reflect on the beauty in your life, and begin your journey toward greater happiness and well-being.
As you cultivate this powerful habit, remember: small steps lead to big transformations. Your future self will thank you for it!
And with gratitude as your guide, there’s no limit to the peace and fulfillment you can achieve.

“Thank you so much, Inga! My daughter accomplished more in one session with you than she has in over three years of traditional therapy and seems to have been transformed in less than a couple of days. I can’t wait to see how much she progresses as she continues her sessions with you!”
– Sandra Watson,

“I am a firm believer that the mind controls our body and that we can tell our mind to do almost anything. I believe in the saying: “If you can conceive it, if you believe it, you can achieve it”. I enjoy your class so much. Your voice is so beautiful and soothing. You make learning so easy for us to learn so many interesting things. Thank you for all your help and for being you!”.
– Henry Narozny,

“Inga is a wealth of knowledge and helped me overcome struggles that I wasn’t ready to let go of in my close relationships. She helps me see things from a different perspective (mind-body-spirit). I appreciate her well rounded approach and the variety of resources she provides. For example, her segment in the book Mastery of the Mind reminded me to mentally detox my self-berating habit. Her meditations are powerfully spot on to help lower stressful moments for me. I’d describe Inga as a compassionate, caring, highly intelligent, and immensely helpful professional. If you’re struggling with relationships or want to improve your interpersonal development, I highly recommend you try her out”.
– Lynda Lee,

“Inga pours a lifetime of expertise, insight, and knowledge into her sessions with clients, who inevitably walk away with a richer understanding of themselves (and resources they can turn to after the end of the session to revive that spark of understanding). Personally, I learned a lot about myself, namely the forces that were afflicting me to the point of being recommended to visit her by a dear friend. She is the first person who successfully performed hypnotherapy for/on me, and I am grateful for that experience to this day (years after the fact). 100% recommended for anyone open to healing and being heard by a master of her craft.”.
– Vineet Dixit,
Cave Creek, Arizona
“My very first guided imagery session was with Inga. She took the time to explain to me what hypnotherapy is, what to expect, and how to work towards achieving the desired outcome. Inga is a gifted therapist with a natural ability to connect with her clients. Her voice is calming and soothing. Inga’s presence and energy are positive and uplifting. My experience couldn’t have been any better. I highly recommend Inga to anyone who is looking for a great experience.”
– Stephanie Vlasich,

“Inga is very positive and welcoming. She takes all of the client’s concerns into consideration, offers great imagery, and uses very positive techniques and great feedback. The setting is very relaxing, and her thoughts are complete with a soothing voice. Very calm and relaxing. Thank you, Inga.
